Pomplamoose is comprised of musicians Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn. The band name is a play on the French word for grapefruit (I’m still not sure where the connection between the grapefruit and their music is, but they do sell grapefruit soap in their online store!) and they have this really cool concept which you should check out in this youtube video below… Don’t just listen; watch it too!
There are two rules to this video song concept (which I’m going to pull directly from the description box):
1. What you see is what you hear (no lip-syncing for instruments or voice).
2. If you hear it, at some point you see it (no hidden sounds).
I think it’s pretty cool. I remember hearing them for the first time around summer after my junior year… Nataly’s voice is liquid gold and the beats themselves are fantastic. They’ve done some cool covers too (my favorite being covers for Mr. Sandman and September; make sure to take a look!) and if they look familiar, its because they did a commercial or two for Hyundai a couple holiday seasons back.
